Meet the CVBT Board of Directors

 

Jerry H. Brent, lifelong resident of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and graduate of James Monroe High School and the University of Virginia.  Active in various civic organizations including Friends of the Rappahannock and Friends of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library.  Program Manager for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service in Washington, D.C.. Great-great-grandfather, Captain Jacob Q. Carpenter, served with Company M of Micah Jenkins' Palmetto Sharpshooters and was killed in action at the Battle of Seven Pines.

Harriett Condon, graduate of the University of Maryland. Worked with the National Trust for Historic Preservation in its earliest days, and moved to Virginia in 1979.  Actively engaged in research and preservation as a member of Mosby Heritage Area, Civil War Roundtables, and numerous civic organizations.  Owner, with husband David, of DFC Inc, Antique Arms and Armour, in Middleburg, Va.

J. Michael Greenfield, graduate of Towson State College with a Bachelor of Science degree.  Worked for the National Park Service for thirty years in six different park areas including four in Virginia.  Served as the Supervisory Park Ranger for Resources Protection at Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park from December 1986 through February 2004.

Robert Lee Hodge, raised in Ohio, where he attended Kent State University. A leader in the Civil War reenacting community known for his commitment to authenticity; featured on National Public Radio's "Talk of the Nation", NBC's "Late Late Show", and on the prime-time PBS program "Going Places". Co-founded Wide Awake Productions, a film company dedicated to Civil War preservation and interpretation. Rob has been employed as a historical researcher for several years, working with nationally-recognized experts. He is currently writing a preservation column for "North & South" magazine.

William J. Kinnamon, Jr.  graduate of Denison University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and a graduate of Duke University with an LL.B. degree.  Engaged in the private practice of law in Fredericksburg, Virginia since 1967. Member of the Board of the Germanna Community College Educational Foundation, Chairman of the Fredericksburg Salvation Army Advisory Board, former President of the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region, and member and former President of the Fredericksburg Civil War Round Table.

Robert K. Krick, author of fifteen books about the Civil War.  For thirty years he was Chief Historian of the National Military Park that preserves the battlefields of Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, and Spotsylvania Court House.

Erik F. Nelson, graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a Masters History, 1987, and United States Navy veteran (1972-1984). Currently serving as Senior Planner for the City of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Founding member of CVBT.

Mike Stevens, B.S. from Texas A & M University, 1965; M.D. from Tulane School of Medicine, 1969; service in U.S. Army Medical Corps, 1971-73; in private practice of dermatology in Fredericksburg, Virginia, since 1976. Wife, Pat, married in 1970. Three grown kids. Member of Rappahannock Valley CWRT, Friends of Fredericksburg Area Battlefields, Founding member of Central Virginia Battlefields Trust and current President of CVBT. One Great-grandfather in 1st Maine Heavy Artillery, another in Hart's Battery, Stuart's Horse Artillery.

Tom Van Winkle,  Tom currently serves as the Director of Communications, Newsletter Editor and Webmaster for CVBT. Moved from New Jersey to Virginia 1994. Has been involved in Civil War preservation efforts for over fourteen years. Founding member, newsletter editor, battlefield preservation director, membership director and eventual five term president of the Friends of Wilderness Battlefield in Spotsylvania, VA. Previous Secretary of the Friends of Fredericksburg Area Battlefields.  Has written historical and preservation articles for The Civil War News, The Free Lance-Star, Culpeper Star Exponent, Wilderness Dispatch, The Skirmish Line, and magazines including Blue & Gray.. Employed by (GMAC) as a Senior Field Account Manager, he is responsible for GM dealer’s in the Southeast region of the country. Tom is also owner and senior photographer of "Historical Photography & Imaging Co."
